I see my work as a link in a long chain.
Many before and after me have cultivated and worked with architectural heritage. I am privileged to contribute my own – with respect and yet an independent approach. I am interested in the monument in its use and its significance for life. From this perspective, I also feel a responsibility to the Creator and our environment.
Master builder
In addition to my work as an architect with my own firm, I have served as the master builder for the United Cathedral Foundations of Merseburg and Naumburg and the Collegiate Abbey of Zeitz since 2011. My role is to advise the United Cathedral Foundations. The preservation and development of the buildings, furnishings, and works of art are central to this work. The portfolio includes, besides the cathedrals in Merseburg and Naumburg, two churches in Naumburg and Zeitz, numerous cathedral curiae with outbuildings and walls, and the cathedral cemetery in Naumburg.
As master builder for the United Cathedral Foundations, I am privileged to share in the responsibility for this cultural heritage in a special way.
Teaching activity
Since 2013 I have been teaching at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau in the English-language Master's program in Architectural and Cultural Heritage, specializing in sacred architecture, and passing on my knowledge to the next generation. In June 2022, I was appointed honorary professor.
We strive to approach monuments and architecture with sensitivity, to think anew, to seek cross-references, to pause respectfully, and to contribute our own ideas – this is how we shape our work. Our starting point is a love for monuments: conversion, renovation, preservation, concept development within existing structures …
We are equally passionate about specialized glass restoration planning and the conception and implementation of exhibitions. It is our cultural, intellectual, and physical home that shapes our lives and that we must continually reflect upon.
